What Lies Ahead?: Influence Industry Prospects in the Trump Era
With the election of Donald Trump, corporate America now sees opportunities aplenty to end gridlock in Washington and move an ambitious legislative agenda. With Republicans now in control of both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue, plans are being hatched to repeal Dodd-Frank, cut taxes, overhaul healthcare and spend billions on roads, bridges and other infrastructure. With as many issues as there are to be considered, what – or who – will determine where they rank on next year’s legislative to-do list?
Speaker: The Honorable Andy Harris, Member, U.S. House of Representatives

Privacy &Cybersecurity: Policy & Legal Frameworks for a New Future
Cybersecurity represents one of the most pressing challenges the world will face in the coming decades. Ensuring continued economic success and defense readiness requires improving the security of the computing devices, systems and networks that have become essential to the nation’s commerce and defense. The U.S. and many nations have powerful offensive capabilities in cyberspace. But how, when, and under what circumstances should these capabilities be used? This session will examine the policy and legal frameworks needed to deal with these and other cyber issues, as technology continues to advance at breakneck speed.
Speakers: Greg Garcia, Executive Vice President, Signal Group Consulting LLC
Kirk Nahra, Partner, Wiley Rein LLP
Craig Newman, Partner, Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP

Aviation & Transportation Infrastructure: Performance & Prospects
Airports, air traffic controls, and aircraft constitute a vital link in the U.S. transportation system. Their relative performance and outlook, though, are mixed. More people travel by air in the U.S. than on any other nation’s system but the U.S. system ranks behind other major industrialized states in performance. Its airports perform poorly on international rankings, and no U.S. airline rates among the top performing global carriers. This session will examine the impact delayed infrastructure spending has had on airport performance, as well as prospects for increased federal aviation spending in a Trump administration.
Speakers: Kevin Burke, President & CEO, Airports Council International – North America
Drew Derco, Associate, Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott LLC
Jeff Markey, Managing Director, Signal Group Consulting LLC

Navigating the Affordable Care Act in the Trump Era
On November 8, 2016, the future of the Affordable Care Act became more uncertain. Republicans in Congress have been working to repeal ACA since its passage in 2010, and now, with control of both houses of Congress and the White House, they may finally get their chance. President-elect Trump has made clear that his administration will work with Congress to repeal ACA and replace it with a “patient-centered healthcare system” that includes health savings accounts, the return of high-risk pools and the “modernization” of Medicare. While sweeping repeal will face a number of hurdles, Republicans can move to eliminate key provisions of ACA through the budgetary reconciliation process. This session will examine the 2015 reconciliation bill, among other things, for useful clues as to what the future of healthcare reform in 2017 may look like.
Speaker: Angela Humphreys, Partner, Bass, Berry & Sims PLC

Issues & Developments in the Hospitality & Gaming Industries
As the country welcomes the first hotelier to occupy the White House, many in the industry hope a Trump presidency portends great things for hotels and casinos. Plans to eliminate the Affordable Care Act, weaken unions and curb increases in the minimum wage could have a positive effect on the industry’s bottom line, in the short term. Longer term, however, the industry’s fortunes are much more likely to be affected by how well the economy fares. This session will examine several of the hospitality industry’s key priorities and how they are likely to be affected in a Trump administration.
Speaker: Christopher Bennett, Partner, Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott LLC

The Trump Trade Agenda
President-elect Trump’s campaign focused heavily on international trade issues such as free trade agreements, import tariffs, and trade deficits. However, the campaign discourse may differ from the reality of the new administration. This session will cut through the rhetoric and identify the challenges and opportunities presented by the Trump administration, as well as examine how the administration’s new trade policies will affect U.S. manufacturers and U.S.-based technology providers.
Speaker: Alan Price, Partner, Wiley Rein LLP

Internet of Things: A Policy Roadmap for Achieving Interoperability
IoT, as the Internet of Things is sometimes called, refers to outfitting with sensors and connecting to the Internet everything from appliances to cars to medical devices so that each “thing” is able to share its data with another device. But its greatest potential lies in the creation of an entire ecosystem of interconnected devices, all working together and continuously sharing information with one another. While the benefits of IoT growth are widely recognized, a number of policy issues will have significant bearing on IoT’s success across markets and uses, such as interoperability, privacy, security and spectrum. This session will examine IoT and the related policy implications it engenders and provide recommendations about those most likely to ensure that IoT’s full potential is ultimately recognized.
Speakers: Matt Gardner, Of Counsel, Wiley Rein LLP
Ambassador David Gross, Partner, Wiley Rein LLP
Bennett Ross, Partner, Wiley Rein LLP
