October 2022: Scharf Banks Marmor LLC (Illinois: Chicago) announced Susan H. Rider, former Vice President & Deputy General Counsel for Labor, Employment & Employee Benefits at Exelon Corporation, has joined the firm. Ms. Rider served as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and led the nationwide team of labor, employment and benefits lawyers at Exelon Corporation and its then subsidiary Constellation. Among her many accomplishments at Exelon was her work with human resources and executive leadership to increase diversity and inclusion in the company’s workforce. At Scharf Banks Marmor, Susan leverages her many years of experience in corporate law to assist employers with the myriad labor and employment challenges they face. She is actively involved in the firm’s Equity Audit Practice as well as employment counseling and pre-dispute resolution practice.

November 2021: Scharf Banks Marmor (Chicago, IL) announced the promotion of two outstanding lawyers. Rebecca L. Ford and George D. Sax are now Partners in the Firm. Rebecca concentrates her practice on corporate transactions and contracts, corporate governance and corporate compliance programs. George concentrates his practice in civil litigation.
June 2021: Scharf Banks Marmor (Chicago, IL) attorneys Stephanie Scharf and Suzanne Alexander won a motion to dismiss, with prejudice, for Yelp. In this Family Medical Leave Act case, an employee took FMLA leave for alleged back pain and then promptly went on a trip to Thailand – which seemed inconsistent with her medical leave. Also, Scharf Banks Marmor has launched a new Appellate Practice. They have amassed an impressive track record of appellate victories in federal and state courts and have represented a range of corporate and individual clients, prepared “friend of the court” briefs on important cases that shape the law, and assisted with post-trial mediation and other settlement activities. Firm attorneys Sarah Marmor, Morgan Churma, and Suzanne Alexander won dismissal with prejudice of race bias claims against the Cook County State’s Attorney and six official capacity defendants in Hudson v. Foxx in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
