WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
Asia and the Pacific Rim are entering a period of profound change. The region remains at the center of global economic growth, investment and innovation, while geopolitical competition, evolving trade relationships, new technology, shifting supply chains and energy security are reshaping the environment in which our clients operate. Against this backdrop, our 2027 regional meeting will bring together SCG Legal member firms from across Asia, the Pacific Rim, Europe and the Americas to explore where the region is heading — and how we can help our clients navigate what comes next.
In addition to our member meeting, we are partnering with JSA, our host firm, to organize a client event focused on key legal developments that will impact businesses in India and across the broader region. This event will provide an opportunity to share SCG Legal’s global and regional insights with clients in the region, while also introducing them to our member firms and the breadth of expertise available across our international network.
WHAT IS SHAPING THE REGION NOW?
Our discussions will look beyond individual jurisdictions to the regional forces creating new business development opportunities for our members and challenges for businesses, including:
- The new trade and geopolitical landscape: Evolving US–China relations, changing trade policies, regional alliances and their impact on cross-border business.
- Asia’s shifting economic centers: The continued rise of India, the growing importance of ASEAN and the evolving roles of China, Japan, Korea, Australia, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, New Zealand and other Asia/Pacific Rim markets.
- Supply chains, investment and the new geography of business: How companies are responding to geopolitical risk, diversification and the emergence of new manufacturing and investment hubs.
- AI, technology and digital regulation: The rapid expansion of AI and digital economies and the growing complexity of regulatory, data, cybersecurity and intellectual property issues across jurisdictions.
- Energy, infrastructure and resilience: The opportunities arising from the region’s transition toward more secure, sustainable and connected energy and infrastructure systems.
- The client perspective: What international businesses are seeing on the ground, where they are investing, what risks concern them most and where they need trusted cross-border legal advice.
From regional insight to global opportunity: As always, the meeting will go beyond regional discussions to explore business development opportunities, client initiatives, and investments in AI and other technologies transforming the practice of law. It will also provide an opportunity to strengthen relationships across jurisdictions, share market intelligence, and identify new opportunities for collaboration and cross-border business.
WHO WILL ATTEND?
More than 50 participants representing Member firms from Australia, China, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the United Kingdom and Vietnam as well as several members from the United States and Europe.
