A strategic communications counselor who has served as a former government official and lawyer, Charles applies his experience to help clients navigate enterprise, reputation and legal risks to make good decisions in a complex external environment. At Edelman, he conceives and executes campaign strategies for organizations to promote and protect their reputations. He regularly counsels senior leadership and boards of directors on governance and reputation management issues. His past experience includes serving as President Ronald Reagan’s director of press advance, special assistant to Secretary of the Treasury James A. Baker III, counselor and spokesperson for the Office of Independent Counsel under Kenneth W. Starr, and counsel to Judge William Webster following the Rodney King case.
Aidan M. Ryan, Senior Vice President and U.S. Lead
Aiden M. Ryan is a strategist and advisor to leaders and organizations facing challenges at the intersection of law, politics, and public affairs. Clients value Aidan’s specialized expertise as much as his ability to bring together critical internal stakeholders and identify the higher business objectives that unify legal and communications campaigns. His experience includes serving as on-the-ground support and corporate spokesperson through one of the most significant public interest trials of the twenty-first century; shaping a compassionate and worker-oriented response for multiple employers facing an historic resurgence in labor organizing and activity; serving as spokesperson for the Board of Trustees of one of the nation’s top universities; and preparing a CEO to give Congressional testimony that led to the passage of the CHIPS Act. Prior to joining Edelman, Aidan launched and chaired the Crisis and Litigation Communications practice at the Am Law 200 firm Goldberg Segalla LLP while concurrently serving as the firm’s spokesperson and advisor to its founder and managing partner.
