It has been a busy and exciting couple of months for SCG Legal!

In September, we were delighted to welcome 220 members representing 38 U.S. states and the District of Columbia, as well as 44 countries, to Washington, DC, for our Annual Meeting. It was the largest meeting in SCG Legal’s history! We are incredibly grateful to Wiley for hosting the meeting and for having the firm’s outstanding attorneys moderate many of our sessions. The program covered a wide range of timely topics, from the impact of AI on the legal industry to government contracts, global M&A, and litigation trends. We closed the meeting with a spectacular gala dinner at the International Spy Museum, where members dressed to impress, with many donning tuxedos and gowns for an unforgettable evening of glamour and intrigue.

We also held a special raffle for members who participated in Friday’s sessions, adding a little extra excitement and encouraging engagement throughout the day. Congratulations to all our winners!

Best Practices in Legal Billing: Improving Efficiency and Maximizing Revenue

Even with established billing procedures, law firms face familiar challenges: delayed time entries, missed billable work, inconsistent billing practices, and the administrative effort required to keep everything on track. Improving these processes can have a meaningful impact on both financial performance and day-to-day operations. But where should firms focus their efforts, and which changes actually make a difference? Join us for a practical discussion on common legal billing challenges, proven approaches to improving timekeeping and billing workflows, and the role technology can play in making these processes more efficient.

Whether you’re a managing partner, practicing attorney, firm administrator, operations leader, or billing professional, this session will offer practical ideas for strengthening billing processes and improving financial performance. Every billable minute matters. Join us to learn how better billing practices can make a measurable difference to your firm’s bottom line.

REMINDER: REFERRALS
As you know, it can take numerous interactions to build the rapport and establish the trust that enables client referrals. Once that foundation is laid, referrals become nearly seamless, and Members invest in each other’s success naturally. As Member-to-Member client referrals occur, please help SCG track them. Doing so is critical to:

  • Offer a clear picture of membership value, especially for annual Member firm renewals and prospect Member firm invitations;
  • Ensure acknowledgement of/credit to the referring firm; and
  • Ensure the firm receiving a referral has an opportunity to profile their practice/s.

Please BCC me at agorokhovsky@scglegal.com on any referral emails. If that’s not possible because of client confidentiality, please send me a separate email letting me know the firm you referred the client/matter to and, as able, the related practice or industry. If you have any questions/ suggestions about this request, please contact me directly.
